There are numerous bonuses that are scattered around the forest, pick them up to earn extra life, gain invulnerability, add 10 stones, increase energy or get extra points. Don't stay near the ground for long, since your energy will drop. When you collect stars you earn points, it is desirable to collect as many stars as possible because one hundred points gives you extra life.
